Candidates for degrees in music are assigned a proficiency level at the
end of their first year of study. They are then required to advance during
their course of study at a rate acceptable to the music faculty.
Each student must achieve the proficiency level specified for his or her
field of study. An explanation of the different proficiency levels for each
instrument is available from the music faculty and in the
Music Student’s
Handbook
. Non-music majors may also earn credit for private lessons in
music.
